Algeria Student Visa From Bangladesh 2027-28: Full Guide

There is an Algerian embassy in Baridhara. There is a Bangladeshi embassy in Algiers. Two countries with full missions in each other's capitals, a relationship going back decades — and almost no Bangladeshi students in between. That gap is the interesting part of this story, and the reason for it is not the visa.

What is the Algeria student visa from Bangladesh in 2027-28?

It is a study visa issued by an Algerian mission, and Algeria's foreign ministry publishes the requirements openly. The study category sits alongside tourist, business, work, family, medical, cultural and transit visas, and applications must be submitted "to the Embassy or Consulate of the applicant's usual place of residence." For a Bangladeshi applicant, that is Dhaka — which, as we will come to, is a real advantage.

The document list is short by regional standards: application forms in duplicate, a passport valid at least six months with a photocopy, two identical recent photographs, travel insurance and a repatriation certificate, and then one of three alternatives — a certificate of registration at a public or private educational establishment approved by the Algerian State, a scholarship certificate from Algerian or home-country authorities, or proof of financial means for study and accommodation.

Notice the structure of that last requirement. Algeria gives you three doors, and for a Bangladeshi family the second one — the scholarship certificate — is the one that actually opens.

Does Algeria have an embassy in Bangladesh?

Yes, and it is worth stating plainly because so many of the low-cost destinations sold in Dhaka do not. The Embassy of Algeria in Dhaka operates from House 6, Road 13, Baridhara Diplomatic Zone, Dhaka 1212, on +880 24 88 11 801, with [email protected] listed as its contact address. It publishes on Algeria's own foreign-ministry domain, and its ambassador to Bangladesh is H.E. Dr Abdelouahab Saidani.

This matters more than it looks. Over the past weeks of country research we have repeatedly run into what we have started calling the phantom mission — an "embassy" that appears on commercial visa-aggregator sites and nowhere on any government source. Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Morocco all produced one. Algeria is the opposite case: a genuine, government-published mission in Dhaka. Bangladesh also maintains its own embassy in Algiers, so there is somewhere to turn after arrival as well.

Algeria's study visa rests on one of three documents — and for Bangladeshi students, the scholarship certificate is the realistic one.

Why does the 90-day rule matter for a full degree?

Here is the detail that no consultancy page mentions. Algeria's own entry-visa page states that visa validity is issued in options of 90 days, 180 days, one year and two years — but that the maximum stay per entry is 90 days, extendable by a further 90 days, with cumulative annual stays capped at 180 days.

We would rather tell you we have found the edge of what is published than paper over it. What the published rules do establish is that the Dhaka visa is the beginning of the process, not the whole of it — and that any agent describing the study visa as a multi-year permission on its own is going beyond the source.

Does apostille work for Algeria now?

Yes, and this is genuinely new. Algeria became a party to the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention with effect from 9 July 2026 — a little over two months before this guide was written. Bangladesh's own accession took effect on 30 March 2025, and Algeria is not among the twelve states that objected to it.

If you take one practical thing from this guide, take this: ask whoever is advising you what date Algeria joined the apostille system. The answer tells you whether they are reading current sources or repeating an old page.

What does studying in Algeria cost, and why can we not give you a number?

Because no Algerian government source we could reach publishes a tuition figure for self-funded international students, and we are not willing to pass on a number we cannot attribute. Searches return either French universities' fees for Algerian students — a completely different subject, and a live controversy in Algeria this year — or commercial aggregator pages with no source at all.

This is the same position we reached on Kyrgyzstan, Spain, Uzbekistan and Morocco, and we handle it the same way: no figure. What we can tell you about the shape of the cost is that Algeria's public higher education system is state-funded and very low-cost by design, and that international places are overwhelmingly filled through government scholarship and bilateral cooperation rather than through fee-paying admission.

What language will you actually study in?

This is the real barrier, and it is bigger than the visa. Algerian higher education runs primarily in Arabic and French, with the balance between them a long-running national debate. English-taught degree programmes exist but are limited, and we could not verify a current list of them from an Algerian government source, so treat any claim of a broad English-medium offering with suspicion until the university confirms it in writing.

For a Bangladeshi student with strong Arabic — a madrasah background, for instance, or Arabic study at university level — Algeria becomes a genuinely interesting and very low-cost proposition, particularly in Islamic studies, Arabic literature and related fields. For a student whose academic English is their strongest asset, it is the wrong country, and no amount of visa convenience changes that.

How do you actually approach an Algerian application?

1
Decide the language question before anything else. If you cannot study in Arabic or French, stop here and pick a different country — this is not a problem the file can solve.
2
Write to the Algerian Embassy in Baridhara and ask two direct questions: how a Bangladeshi national is nominated for an Algerian government scholarship, and what residence permission a multi-year student needs after arrival.
3
Ask in parallel whether the scholarship route runs through Bangladesh's own Ministry of Education, as Morocco's AMCI scheme does. Government-to-government nominations are not something an agent can sell you.
4
Secure a registration certificate from a state-approved Algerian institution, or a scholarship certificate. One of these is mandatory — the visa does not exist without it.
5
Apostille your educational documents. This route opened for Algeria on 9 July 2026 and replaces the older legalisation chain.
6
Arrange travel insurance and a repatriation certificate — both are on the published requirement list, not optional extras.
7
File the study visa application in duplicate at the Dhaka embassy, with a passport valid at least six months and two identical photographs.

Documents Algeria's foreign ministry lists for a study visa

  • Application forms, in duplicate
  • Passport valid at least six months, plus a photocopy
  • Two recent identical photographs
  • Travel insurance and repatriation certificate
  • Registration certificate from a State-approved establishment, OR a scholarship certificate, OR proof of financial means for study and accommodation

Confirm with the embassy before you spend anything. Unconfirmed at the time of writing: tuition for self-funded international students (no government figure found, so none is quoted above), student work rights, the residence permission required for a degree-length stay, the consular fee for a Bangladeshi applicant (Algeria states only that chancery fees vary by country), and whether Bangladesh currently receives an allocation under Algeria's government scholarship programme. Each of these should be confirmed in writing with the Algerian Embassy in Baridhara.

Is Algeria a realistic choice for a Bangladeshi student in 2027-28?

For most students, honestly, no — and the reason is language, not law. For a small group with real Arabic or French, it is one of the least crowded and lowest-cost options available, with the unusual comfort of an embassy you can visit in Dhaka and a Bangladeshi mission waiting in Algiers.

What we see at Eduvisa is that the countries nobody talks about are usually quiet for a reason, and it is worth finding out which reason before you fall in love with the price. With Algeria the reason is not a hostile visa regime or a hidden cost — the paperwork is lighter than most of Europe. It is that the teaching happens in languages most Bangladeshi applicants do not have. That is a solvable problem for some families and an unsolvable one for others, and knowing which you are is worth one honest conversation.
