Argentina Student Visa from Bangladesh 2027-28 Guide

For years the pitch was irresistible. Argentina, the country where a public university degree costs nothing — not for locals, not for foreigners, not for anyone. Consultancy pages across Bangladesh still carry that line. In May 2025 the Argentine government quietly rewrote it, and almost nobody selling Argentina to Bangladeshi families has updated the page since.

What is the Argentina student visa from Bangladesh in 2027?

It is not one permission but two. Argentina separates the visa that lets you enter from the residence that lets you stay and study, and the second one cannot be obtained from Bangladesh at all. The Argentine foreign ministry lists student visas in two lengths — for study under 365 days and for study over 365 days — and states that applications "may only be submitted at the Consular Office of the Argentine Republic in the place of residence of the foreign national." That is the first stage, and for a Bangladeshi student it happens in Dhaka.

The second stage is the residencia transitoria como estudiante. Argentina's national migration directorate is explicit that this is filed online through RaDEX from within Argentine territory, followed by an in-person appointment. It is granted for a maximum of one year and is renewable. The page was last updated on 30 September 2025.

Understanding this split matters more than it sounds. A student who assumes the Dhaka visa is the whole permission arrives with a clock running and paperwork still to file — including one document that can only be obtained after landing.

Is public university in Argentina still free for Bangladeshi students?

Not in the way the marketing says. On 29 May 2025 Argentina published DNU 366/2025, a decree reforming the migration law, which limits free access to public university education and to public health care to permanent residents. A Bangladeshi student holding a one-year transitional student residence is, by definition, not a permanent resident.

What we cannot tell you honestly is the number. The decree enables public universities to charge non-permanent residents; it does not itself set a fee, and each university decides. Through 2026 this has been an open political fight in Argentina — in late July 2026 the national government and the University of Buenos Aires were publicly disputing how many students in public medical faculties are foreign, with UBA's vice-rector contradicting the government's figure. A student planning a 2027-28 intake is walking into an unsettled situation, not a settled one.

Which embassy handles an Argentina student visa from Bangladesh?

Dhaka's own — and this is genuinely unusual. Most of the low-cost destinations Bangladeshi students are being sold require a trip to New Delhi. Argentina does not. The Argentine Embassy in Bangladesh operates from Plot 50, Road 23, 1st Floor, Block B, Banani, Dhaka 1213, reachable on +880 255035918 and at [email protected], on the foreign ministry's own domain.

That removes the single biggest hidden cost in most of these routes: an Indian transit visa, flights, hotel nights and the risk of a second trip if a document is rejected. It is a real advantage of Argentina over, say, Peru, where Bangladesh falls under the Peruvian embassy in New Delhi.

The Argentina file is unusual: the visa is filed in Dhaka, but the residence permit is filed only after you land.

Why will apostille not help your Argentina documents?

Because Argentina is one of the few countries that formally refused Bangladesh's entry into the apostille system. Bangladesh joined the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention with effect from 30 March 2025 — a genuine win that simplified document attestation for most of the world. Twelve states objected to that accession, and Argentina objected on 24 January 2025, alongside Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Estonia, Greece, France, Denmark and Lithuania.

The practical consequence is simple and expensive: an apostille sticker from Bangladesh does not work for Argentina. Your certificates need the older consular legalisation chain instead. Any agent who tells a family "just get it apostilled, Bangladesh joined the convention" is giving advice that is correct for most countries and wrong for this one.

What do Bangladeshi students actually get wrong about Argentina?

The gap between what circulates in Dhaka and what the Argentine government publishes is wider for Argentina than for almost any country we have researched. Here is the honest version, claim by claim.

ClaimStatusWhat the source says
Free for all foreignersOutdatedDNU 366/2025 limits free public university to permanent residents
Apostille is enoughWrongArgentina objected to Bangladesh's accession on 24 Jan 2025
Must go to New DelhiWrongArgentine Embassy operates in Banani, Dhaka
Residence granted abroadPartlyEntry visa abroad; residence filed inside Argentina via RaDEX
Taught in EnglishRarePublic undergraduate teaching is in Spanish
Free public healthcareChangedNon-permanent residents must hold health insurance

How does the two-stage process actually work?

1
Win a place first. Argentina's student visa and residence both rest on an enrolment document from a recognised institution — there is no speculative student visa.
2
Settle the language question honestly. Public undergraduate programmes teach in Spanish. If your Spanish is not at study level, the realistic first year is a language year, not a degree year.
3
Legalise your certificates through the consular chain, not by apostille, because Argentina objected to Bangladesh's accession.
4
Apply for the student entry visa at the Argentine Embassy in Banani, choosing the correct category — under 365 days or over 365 days.
5
Arrange health insurance before travelling. Since DNU 366/2025, non-permanent residents are required to hold cover to enter and remain.
6
After arrival, file the residencia transitoria online through RaDEX and attend the in-person appointment. Maximum one year, renewable.
7
Obtain your Argentine criminal record certificate locally — it is on the residence requirement list and cannot be produced from Bangladesh.

Documents the migration directorate lists for student residence

  • Valid passport
  • Argentine criminal record certificate (age 16 and above)
  • Foreign criminal record certificate, where you lived abroad a year or more in the last three years
  • Proof of address in Argentina
  • Proof of regular means of support
  • Electronic enrolment certificate (Constancia de Inscripción Electrónica) for regular students
  • Notarised parental consent and birth certificate, for applicants who are minors

What does studying in Argentina cost in 2027?

Here we have to be careful, and we would rather be careful than confident. Argentina's inflation and exchange-rate movement make any peso figure unstable within months, and undergraduate fees for non-permanent residents are still being decided university by university.

What is published and checkable: the University of Buenos Aires medical faculty's 2025 fee schedule sets out a foreigners' annex, with pre-registration at ARS 24,000 and most master's programmes for foreign students at ARS 2,400,000 per academic year, with annual enrolment charged at 30% of programme cost. Those are postgraduate figures from a document dated early 2025. We found no published undergraduate tuition figure for non-permanent residents at UBA, so we are not going to invent one.

Verify before you commit money. Unconfirmed at the time of writing: whether work is permitted on a transitional student residence (the migration directorate's page does not address it), the current migration fee amounts (published separately in the cuadro de tasas migratorias), whether individual public universities have begun charging non-permanent residents, and any undergraduate fee level. Confirm each with the Argentine Embassy in Dhaka and with the university in writing before transferring funds or booking travel.

Is Argentina a realistic choice for a Bangladeshi student?

For a specific kind of student, yes. If you already have Spanish, or are genuinely willing to spend a year getting it, Argentina offers a large public university system, a Dhaka embassy that spares you the New Delhi trip, and living costs far below Western Europe. For a student whose plan was "free degree, taught in English, easy visa," Argentina in 2027 is not that country and was never quite that country.

What we see at Eduvisa is that the families who get hurt are rarely the ones who chose a hard country. They are the ones who chose a country on a claim that was true three years ago. Argentina is the clearest current example: the free-tuition line was accurate before 29 May 2025, and it is still being sold today.
