Most guides to studying in the Czech Republic skip the single fact that shapes the whole process for a Bangladeshi applicant: there is no Czech mission in Bangladesh taking long-term student applications. Your file goes to New Delhi, and getting in front of that counter is itself a project that starts months before the university deadline.
This guide covers the documents, the money and the appointment system for a Czech student application from Bangladesh in the 2027-2028 intake season. Figures come from the Czech Immigration Portal and the Czech Embassy in New Delhi, with read dates given so you can re-check them.
Bangladeshi students apply for a Czech long-term residence permit for study at the Czech Embassy in New Delhi, by email registration on published dates. Proof of funds for a full academic year works out at about CZK 115,810 — roughly ৳6.66 lakh at late-September 2026 rates. The application fee is CZK 2,500 and the legal decision limit is 60 days. A Bangladeshi apostille does not work for Czechia.
Why does a Czech application from Bangladesh start in New Delhi?
The Czech Embassy in New Delhi publishes a page specifically about long-term visa and long-term residence permit appointments for citizens of Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. That page is the operative document for a Bangladeshi student, and it is worth reading in full before anything else.
The embassy is explicit that Bangladeshi applicants face an extra step. It notes that appointments for Bangladeshi nationals "are not assigned immediately but with a sufficient advance notice of 1-2 months to process the necessary visa for traveling to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi."
Read that carefully, because it contains a whole second application. Before you can attend your Czech appointment, you need a visa to enter India. The embassy builds one to two months into its scheduling precisely so you have time to obtain it. Students who plan only for the Czech timeline are the ones who miss their intake.
How do you get an appointment?
Not through an online booking system. The New Delhi embassy runs registration by email on specific published days, and outside those windows there is nothing to click.
The registration dates above are the 2026 series published by the embassy. No 2027 registration calendar was published at the time of writing (28 September 2026). Assume a similar monthly rhythm for planning, but do not treat those dates as confirmed for 2027 — check the embassy page before you commit to a university deadline.
How much money must you show?
The Czech Immigration Portal sets proof of funds by formula rather than a flat number: fifteen times the subsistence minimum, plus twice the subsistence minimum for every whole month of the expected stay except the first. The subsistence minimum it publishes is CZK 3,130 per month.
| Stay | CZK | Approx BDT |
|---|---|---|
| One semester | 78,250 | ৳4.50 lakh |
| One year | 115,810 | ৳6.66 lakh |
| Under 18 | Half | Half |
| Application fee | 2,500 | ৳14,370 |
| Subsistence minimum | 3,130 / month | ৳17,991 |
Conversions use CZK 1 = ৳5.748, the rate on 28 September 2026. They are our arithmetic on the portal's own formula, not a figure the Czech authorities publish in taka, and the rate moves — budget above the line rather than exactly on it.
There are two alternatives to showing the cash. The portal allows a commitment issued by a public authority or a legal entity covering subsistence costs, with proof of any remaining amount, or documentation that all study-related costs will be covered by the receiving organisation. A scholarship award letter often does this work.

One honest wrinkle: the portal's proof-of-funds page was last updated 28 May 2026, but the subsistence minimum it quotes is dated 1 January 2023. We have reproduced the figure exactly as published rather than adjusting it. If the subsistence minimum has since risen, the amount you must show will be higher than the table above. Confirm the current figure before you arrange your bank statement.
What documents does the Czech Republic require?
The Immigration Portal's list for a long-term residence permit for study purposes is compact, and the page was last updated 27 July 2026.
- Completed and signed application form
- Valid travel document (passport)
- Proof of accommodation in Czechia
- Proof of funds for the stay
- Photograph meeting the formal requirements
- Comprehensive medical insurance
- Confirmation of studies or enrolment confirmation, in the original
- Parental consent, if the applicant is under 18
- Criminal record certificate, or the equivalent from your country of citizenship
Two further items can be requested rather than being on the standard list: a medical report, and criminal record documents from any country where you lived for six months or more in the past three years. If you have studied or worked in a third country, prepare for that second one.
Will a Bangladeshi apostille work for the Czech Republic?
No — and this is the most expensive misunderstanding in a Czech file from Bangladesh.
Bangladesh joined the Apostille Convention with effect from 30 March 2025, but the Czech Republic lodged an objection on 12 December 2024. Where a member state objects, the Convention does not enter into force between that state and Bangladesh. A Bangladeshi apostille therefore has no legal effect for Czechia, and documents need the older legalisation route instead.
The Immigration Portal page we read does not itself spell out the legalisation requirement for foreign documents, so we are not going to invent a procedure for you. What we can say with confidence is the negative: do not buy apostilles for a Czech file on the assumption they will be accepted. Ask the New Delhi embassy directly, in your registration email, exactly how it wants your Bangladeshi certificates legalised.
What does it cost and how long does it take?
The administrative fee is CZK 2,500 — about ৳14,370 — charged as a consular fee when the application is made abroad. The portal states a decision limit of 60 days from submission, and the permit is normally issued for one year, extendable, with up to two years in cases specified by law.
Sixty days is the legal limit for the decision, not the total time from your first plan to your flight. Add the appointment wait of one to two months, the Indian visa, and document preparation before that. Four to six months from a standing start is a realistic planning horizon.
Is there really a Czech embassy in Bangladesh?
Several commercial visa websites list one. We could not confirm any Czech diplomatic mission in Bangladesh handling long-term student applications on a government domain, and the Czech Embassy in New Delhi publishes a page that explicitly covers Bangladeshi nationals — which is not how it would read if Dhaka handled its own.
Aggregator sites routinely list embassies in Bangladesh that do not exist, complete with plausible addresses and phone numbers. We have found the same invented-mission pattern for several countries. The rule that has never failed us: a mission is real when a government domain says so. Verify on the destination country's own ministry or embassy website, not on a visa-services page.
How should you plan a 2027-2028 Czech application?
Work backwards from the embassy, not forwards from the university. The course start date is the last thing that constrains you; the registration window is the first.
Count back: term start, minus 60 days for the decision, minus one to two months for the appointment offer, minus the Indian visa, minus document preparation and legalisation. For a September 2027 start, that puts your first serious work in the early months of 2027, and your accommodation and enrolment confirmation well before that.
What we see at Eduvisa is that Czech files rarely fail on eligibility. They fail because a student discovered the New Delhi step in June for a September intake. The countries with no mission in Bangladesh are perfectly doable — they simply have to be started earlier than the ones that do.
